Alright after the Top 100 countdown on Wednesday and the show of the hits I put together for the Friday night I was looking forward to see what our top ten looks like this week. I was not disappointed. We end up with some new tracks on the countdown along with some old favorites. So with out any further ado enjoy your weekly #OO top ten show, starting out this week with…..
10. The Maggie Whackers – Pim Song Macallan
THE MAGGIE Whackers is a young group of traditional Celtic music (Scottish, Irish, Welsh and Breton), which draws its energy from the English punk of the 70’s and 80’s.
9. Doctor Popular – lolCats
He apparently is working on a Kickstarter called God Hates Dinosaurs which will hopefully launch soon.
8. Candy Say – Not Kings
Easily one of my favorite albums of this Candy Says Not Kings delivers from open notes to the closing track. I am happy to say I was able to get one of their collectable cassettes before they all sold out. If you have listened to this album what are you waiting for?
7. Alex – Two Turntables And A Microphone-Unplugged (ft. KCentric)
A great track I was introduced to while doing the big summer Music fest show with ccmixter.org this track made it all the way up to number 13 on the 2014 #OO top ten. pretty impressive if you ask me.
6. The A.G.’s – I like Boobs
I think most of us do.
An excellent 80′ – 90’s punk band that went on to form the band Sinkhole. You can check out the full history of the band here. Oh and A.G. stands for Amateur Gynecologists.
5. The Gunshy – Silent Songs
This track managed to come in at #34 on this years top 100 countdown and the Gunshy with their gritty sounds has become one of my favorite new bands of 2014. And while researching the show notes my day was just made and I just discovered I will be getting to see them later this month on Jan 29th when they make their way to Proud Larry’s in Oxford, MS.
For more info on the Gunshy check out my interview with Matt here.
4. The Impossebulls – The GetBack (Dr. Mindflips’s Medicinal Mix)
Somehow, I missed this release when it came out. Which I am glad was rectified. You can check out me talking with C-Doc of the Impossebulls here and Dr. Mindlflip who was responsible for the remix here. The original came in at #39 on the top 100 countdown for 2014. Lets see where the remix goes in 2015.
3. Aeon Sable – Dancefloor Satellite
And awesome band that I do not know enough about.
2. Maniside – Manimal
Considering we have a chat room traveler named manimal this track has been a long time #OO favorite and can be grabbed through Jamendo. The Swedish duo of ManInside have been playing together since 1993.
1. Dr Mindflip – Precious
And coming in at number 1 Dr. Mindflip with the last track off his new EP In a Garden of Fools released through blocSonic. I think the chat truly loved the hidden track part during this song and were cracking up. So don’t be surprised when it comes.
I Hope you enjoyed the show.
